BCA report for a retail fitout

Retail fitouts are assessed for the customers they invite in: exits, accessible entry and circulation, and the fire safety of any new construction. In a centre, the report also lists what the landlord's base building must provide.

Questions

Does a small shop need an accessible toilet?

Not always; it depends on the class, floor area and what the building already provides. The report states the answer for your tenancy.

What drawings do you need?

Site plan, floor plans, elevations and sections as PDF. For alterations, as-built drawings of the existing building as well.

Do you inspect the site?

No. The report is prepared from the drawings, which is what makes the fee fixed and the delivery 72 hours.
